The AllCast app by ClockworkMod now supports the Chromecast again. When the app originally came out Google updated the Chromecast to block support for the AllCast app since there was no public software development kit (SDK) out for the device yet. With the release of the Chromecast SDK yesterday, ClockworkMod programmer Koushik Dutta was supposedly able to rewrite support for the Chromecast in under 20 minutes. AllCast now allows Chromecast users to send photos, music, and videos to Google’s streaming media stick.
AllCast is available in Google Play and supports the Chromecast, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Roku, and various Smart TVs. Android users who want to use AllCast with the Chromecast will need the new Google Play Services 4.2.34. Other improvements in the app include better song info when playing on DLNA or Roku, better photo support, crash fixes, and battery optimizations.
